Week 3 BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION I: Basic Drawing Techniques (My Experiences)

This week we were studying negative spaces in our drawings.  This drawing was actually done by placing a picture upside down and drawing the subject.  The idea behind this is when your left side of your brain can't identify the object it sends it to your right side to take in the information, making it easier to draw.  This is because the right side is not so analytical and recognizes shapes and wont edit it out of your thought process.
This was a pot of marigolds outside of my back door.  We were only to draw and color in the negative spaces, or outside spaces of the object.  If an artist can get the negative spaces drawn correctly then the postive, or inside spaces of the object will be drawn in a better likeness of that object.
